Athletics

The safety and well-being of all attendees at Issaquah High School athletic events is our top priority.

Since the 2021-22 school year, we have experienced several incidents involving non-high school-aged students attending IHS football games, including fighting, property damage, unauthorized access to school buildings, and other unsafe behavior. When staff members intervene, we have often encountered a lack of cooperation from students and inconsistent supervision from accompanying adults.

During the 2024-25 school year, we implemented less restrictive measures that allowed supervising adults to attend with groups of K-8 students. While many families and supervising adults helped create a positive experience, a significant number of students were not actively supervised, and the unsafe behavior continued.

To maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, the following expectations will be in effect at all Issaquah High School home football games:

 

K-8 Student Supervision Requirements

• Students in grades K-8 must be accompanied by a supervising adult to attend football games and all pre-game activities.
   
• Parents or legal guardians may serve as the supervising adult for their own child(ren).
   
• Each supervising adult may bring up to three additional K-8 students who are not their children.
   
• Supervising adults must remain with and actively supervise the students they bring to the event at all times.
   
• Active supervision means being physically present with students throughout the event, including trips to concessions, restrooms, seating areas, and other locations within the stadium.

 

Admission & Ticketing

• Supervising adults and students must enter the stadium together.
   
• Adults who have already entered the stadium may not return to admit additional students.
   
• All spectators must purchase tickets according to Issaquah School District and KingCo ticketing guidelines.
   
• No ticket refunds will be issued if an individual is removed from the event for violating event expectations.
   
• Spectators may not bring athletic balls, footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, or similar recreational equipment inside the stadium.

 

Spectator Expectations

To help ensure a safe, positive, and family-friendly atmosphere:

• No outside food or beverages are permitted.
   
• Drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, e-cigarettes, and vapes are prohibited on school property.
   
• Spectators who appear to be under the influence may be denied entry or removed from the event.
   
• All attendees are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship. Inappropriate comments or behavior directed toward players, coaches, officials, staff members, or other spectators will not be tolerated.
   
• Individuals engaging in disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate behavior may be removed from the event.

 

Parking & Traffic Reminders

• Parking is limited on game days.
   
• Please park only in designated parking areas.
   
• Spectators parking in surrounding neighborhoods are expected to follow all posted parking regulations and be respectful of our neighbors.
   
• Vehicles may not be parked in fire lanes or emergency access areas. Illegally parked vehicles may be subject to citation or towing.

 

Enforcement

• School administrators, athletic staff, event supervisors, and security personnel are responsible for enforcing these expectations.
   
• Students, parents, and guests who fail to follow these requirements may be denied entry or removed from the event.

We want our football games to be a fun, inclusive experience for all current and future Eagles. At the same time, we must prioritize the safety of everyone in attendance. If safety and supervision concerns continue, Issaquah High School may move to a more restrictive policy requiring all K-8 students to attend with their parent or legal guardian.
