Track and Field: Eagles Fly High at State Meet

Over this last weekend, Issaquah track and field had an incredible showing at the State competition, where we brought home two state championships and 7 other podium finishes. Over three days of electric competition, incredible sportsmanship, and teamwork to the nth degree--Issy showed up and showed out on the track in a big way.

A few highlights:

• Jackson Battistoni, senior, REPEATS as state champion in the boys 4A high jump, with a winning jump of 6'6". He had awesome attempts at 6'10" after he had already sealed up the state championship. He will be at Indiana University next fall (Hoo-Hoo-Hoo-Hoosiers!) to continue his high-flying ways.
• Nora Doyle-Newe, senior, competed in both the girls 800 and 1600, finishing 4^th and 7^th, respectively. This is her first year competing in individual events at the state championship! She will head to University of San Diego to continue her running career.
• Madelyn Kraemer, senior, competed in a STACKED girls 100m, finishing 7^th overall. She has had an incredible career, and we are so excited to see her continue at Carnegie Mellon. 
• Senior-laden 4x100m (Austin Schildt, Austin Staples, Chase Hanson, and sophomore Connor Cotton) wrapped up their season finishing 7^th overall. Their season's best of 41.89 broke a 26-year-old school record.
• Austin Schildt, senior, also ran the boys 200m, where he finished 5^th overall. His meteoric rise this season as one of the top sprinters in the state is not a surprise to those that have seen his work ethic these past 4 years, and him signing with Whitworth is a testament to that! NOTE: His season is not over! He is set to compete in the boys 100m at the Brooks PR Invitational, hosted at Renton Memorial Stadium this Sunday, June 7 at 4 p.m. Broadcast details available at flotrack.org. 
• Soham Agrawal, sophomore, competed in the wheelchair throws (shotput and javelin), where he finished 3^rd overall in both disciplines. This is his first season throwing, and we look forward to 2 more years of working with him!
• Finally, our boys 4x400m (seniors Austin Schildt, Derek Noble, Nicolas Talluto, and Austin Staples) capped off the meet with our second state championship of the weekend! The 4 of them ran selflessly, and their time of 3:17.59 is not only the fastest time by a WA high school this year; but it also breaks our school record set last year at the state meet.
