HISTORY MADE! Issaquah Boys Swim Wins First-Ever WIAA 4A State Championship!
This past weekend, the Issaquah Boys Swim & Dive Team made history, capturing their first-ever WIAA 4A State Championship in dominant fashion!
“It was just unbelievable,” Coach Laura Halter said. “I couldn’t stop crying. I cry every time I think about it: The amount of pride I have for those boys.”
Halter credited the athletes’ teamwork as the key to their success this season and at the state meet. “Teamwork in the pool, at practices and at competitions. … Newport beat us by two points at the KingCo Championships.” The athletes decided after the KingCo meet that they would simply win at state.
“They wanted it badly, and they were ready,” she said. “It’s a great group of kids.”
