Biomedical and Anatomy Classes Connect With Leaders in Research

Students visit cherry blossom trees at University of Washington campus

Biomedical Science/Anatomy & Physiology Class Field Trips

In April, our Biomedical class students went on a few field trips to learn more about the field. Issaquah High School and Newport High School went to the University of Washington's Brain Carnival.  Students were given the opportunity to learn about the brain and neurons, do different experiments and see donated organs.  The students were able to talk to college students and professors all about their current research.

Students also went to the Institute For Systems Biology (ISB) in Seattle and the Gates Foundation Discovery Center. During the visit, the scientist introduced their field of study, explaining the fundamental questions they are trying to answer and the methods they use. They gave a tour of their lab, demonstrations of ongoing experiments, and discussed their research findings.  Students got to see firsthand how data is collected, analyzed, and interpreted, as well as the technologies and tools that support their work.
