World Mental Health Day is Saturday, October 10th!

Counselors will be in the Commons during both lunches on October 23rd with some fun ways to celebrate. Feel free to stop by and say hi!

The 2026 World Mental Health Day theme is "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change", highlighting an opportunity to meaningfully engage with people with lived experience (PWLE) of mental health conditions and to recognize their knowledge as a vital form of expertise. This year’s campaign calls for their voices to shape the policies, services, and decisions that affect their lives.

PSAT

The PSAT is Wednesday, October 21st at IHS. All 10th and 11th graders are automatically signed up (including Running Start students). Please come to school at 10:10 that day, with a charged laptop and charging cord. All 9th graders will participate in various activities with Counselors, High School and Beyond Plan and Eagle Crew. All 12th graders will work on High School and Beyond Plan and/or College Applications in a designated location. If your student is not planning to take the PSAT, parents may excuse them on that day using normal excused absence procedures.

College Applications

Counselors are hosting College Application work sessions during FLEX time on Wednesdays throughout the month of October and into November in room 2103. Sign up to attend via Student Support Time (you can find it under Ms. Auffant’s name)!

If you are using Common App to apply for colleges, remember to invite your Counselor. Communicate with your Counselor about your first deadline, what is needed, your progress, etc.

FAQs about college apps (graduating class size, how to enter classes into Common App, etc.) can be found on our website: College Apps Information

Attention Juniors!

Counselors will be starting 1-on-1 Junior Credit Conference meetings this Fall. We will take this time to review your credits, talk about your plan to meet remaining graduation requirements, discuss post-high school plans, and answer any individual questions you have. Keep your eye out for a slip to come see your counselor.

9th Grade Flex Session – October 7

Our 9th graders will kick off the first of a three-part Flex Session series designed to help students successfully navigate high school. On October 7, students will learn practical tips for getting connected, understanding how high school works, accessing support, and building the skills they need to thrive at IHS. The second session will be during PSAT Day and the third will happen in November.
