Filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is one of the most important steps in preparing for college, regardless of your financial background.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your gateway to financial support for college, career school, or trade programs—and it opened TODAY, September 25th.

Why is FAFSA important?

• It determines your eligibility for federal grants, work-study opportunities, and low-interest student loans.
• Colleges and Universities use FAFSA data to award their own financial aid.
• Even if you think you may not qualify, you should still apply—you don’t want to miss out on any potential grants or scholarships your student may apply for.

How to fill it out:

1. Visit https://studentaid.gov
2. Create an FSA ID for both the student and one parent.
3. Gather necessary documents: Social Security numbers, W-2s, and bank statements.
4. Complete and submit the FAFSA online—it’s free and takes less time than you think!

Need help? We’re here to support you! Contact The College and Career Team if you have questions or need assistance with the application. Issaquah School District will host FAFSA Information Night on November 17th and offer hands-on assistance. Details about the event will be communicated closer to the date.

Completing the FAFSA is a crucial step toward making college more affordable. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to receive financial aid—fill it out as soon as soon as possible!
