April Counselor Corner

Hot take: April is where growth happens

April is the month where your hard work starts to bloom – not just in grades, but in growth. Whether you’re a senior wrapping up freshman year or a freshman just starting out, every step you take now builds the foundation for what’s next. Don’t coast – lean in. You’re closer to your goals than you think, and the effort you put in today can open doors tomorrow.

Want support with your growth? Come check out the HUB (Helping you Balance) where your school counselors are available for 30 mins each Tuesday and Thursday before and after school in room 2103 to help with homework and study plans and to provide a place for homework completion.

April is Stress Awareness Month

Stress Awareness Month, observed in April, aims to highlight the causes and effects of stress while providing resources for effective management. Established in 1992 in the United States, it is now recognized globally. Stress and anxiety are normal parts of our human experience. Learning how to manage stress and anxiety and recognizing when you need help are important when caring for your mental health. Here are some great resources for everyone to read created by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIH).

The Issaquah School District has resources for all in our learning community if you are worried about your mental health or that of a loved one. Students and their families can access the ISD Community Resource Directory that includes Care Solace, a free resource to help you find providers that are covered by your insurance or provide a sliding scale and have availability.

Students can make an appointment with their IHS School Counselor to access in-school resources, including our School Based Mental Health Services.
