Getting Your Tech Ready for Your AP Tests

AP Testing Info PDF (Click for Information and Schedule)

AP Testing is coming up! This year, every test will have a digital component. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your SCHOOL ISSUED LAPTOP is ready for testing. To make sure you don’t run into any issues, be sure to complete the following by the date of your first test (or sooner if your AP Teachers are requesting you to get it done for practice tests).

Why your SCHOOL ISSUED LAPTOP?

If you run into any issues while testing, we can offer support for most things only if you are using a SCHOOL ISSUED LAPTOP. If it is a personal laptop, then it is your personal responsibility to troubleshoot any tech issues. It is not feasible for our IT staff to manage tech issues for the many types/brands of devices that are out there.

TO DO:
1. Download Bluebook onto your SCHOOL ISSUED LAPTOP. If you have Bluebook already downloaded, make sure it is the updated version.
• Go to bluebook.app.collegeboard.org on their testing device to download Bluebook. The download page will detect their device type and provide the right file.

2. IF TAKING A LANGUAGE TEST: Check that you have Audacity on your SCHOOL ISSUED LAPTOP. If you find that you do not have this program, talk to the school IT to get it downloaded.

3. Locate your laptop charger. You may need this on the testing day. If you have lost your charger, be sure to ask your school’s IT department for a new one. Please note that this may incur a charge on your student account for lost school property. If your laptop has battery issues (as in it cannot hold a charge), you can use a personal device for most exams. Just be aware that we cannot provide tech support for personal devices. If you are planning on using your own devices, it may be a good idea to also bring your school issued laptop and charger as well in the even that your personal device runs into any issues.

4.  KNOW YOUR COLLEGE BOARD LOG IN INFORMATION. You will need to log into your College Board account and may not be able to access your email at the testing site. To save time, make sure you know you log in. This means not relying on log in auto fill.

Preparing for the AP Exams
As we are quickly approaching AP testing time, below is important information regarding testing protocols and expectations. AP testing will take place during the weeks of May 4-9 and May 12-16. There are specific exams scheduled each day (see the 2026 AP Testing Schedule to know which exams fall on each date).

Please note: These exams are College Board-issued, and therefore, our testing protocols are set by the College Board. Students must familiarize themselves with these expectations and follow them accordingly. Failure to do so could result in the cancellation of their exam scores.

Transportation
If a student takes the bus, they will need to arrange alternate transportation

  • Morning exams will start before buses arrive; students will need to make arrangements to get dropped off
  • Afternoon exams will not finish before buses leave; students must make arrangements to get picked up.
  • Wednesday Morning exams do not have transportation; students must make arrangements for their exam.

Parking is assigned at Issaquah High School, so you may need to plan if you are planning on driving yourself on your testing date(s). This may mean parking off campus and walking to the high school. PM testing will be more impacted by this as school will be in session and parking will be limited. Students who park in reserved lots may be fined as a result. DO NOT park in the community center lot.

If you are signed out post exam, you must wait until all testers are done testing

Check-Ins for Exams
Students need to check-in at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled exams.

  • For 8:00 am exams, students must check-in at the entrance to the main gym (by the DECA Store) between 7:05 and 7:30 am. Doors to the gym will close at 7:30, no exceptions.
  • For 12:00 pm exams, you will need to check-in at the entrance by the Theater between 11:30 and 11:45 am. Please line up under the overhang. The testing doors will close at 11:50, no exceptions.

If you are late for the exam, you will NOT be permitted to take it. Your exam will be reported as ‘Unused’ and you will be charged a $40 unused exam fee.

What to Bring
Students are only permitted to bring a clear plastic bag or ziploc into the testing area with the following material:

  • Photo ID
  • Number 2 pencils (no mechanical pencils allowed)
  • Black and/or blue pens
  • Calculator (if your exam requires it)
  • Layers of clothing (it gets cold in the gyms)
  • Water and/or snack for breaks
  • Non-smart watch
  • AP Labels (this is only after you have taken your first exam)
  • School-issued laptop and charger

Students are NOT permitted to bring any of the following items:

  • Electronics of any kind (smartwatch, cell phones, headphones/air pods, portable listening or recording devices, etc.).
  • Books, notebooks, textbooks, or references of any kind
  • Backpacks
  • Rulers or straight edges

Food and Drinks and Breaks
Students will not be allowed to eat or drink anything during the exam (unless they have specific accommodations). They may eat/drink during the scheduled testing breaks and lunch (if they are taking multiple exams in one day). If a student is taking multiple exams in one day, they are highly encouraged to bring their own lunch to ensure they are able to eat in a timely manner before their afternoon exams.

Students are permitted to use the restroom during the exam as needed (with permission from the proctor), but may not access their clear bags, snacks, drinks, etc. Your exam time will not be adjusted for using the restroom.

Exam End Times
Each student will not be allowed to leave until the proctor has concluded the exam process. Please remember that the exam total time is not the amount of time it will take for the whole exam. Please add in at least 30 minutes for reading instructions, collecting materials, and for breaks; this can be longer depending on the size of the exam. World Language exams should add at least 1 hour to the exam as it takes a while to ensure all recordings have been saved correctly.

Testing Security
You are not allowed to discuss or post about the exam - College Board can invalidate scores for doing so. No exam materials may leave the testing premises. Cheating will not be tolerated. If a student is caught cheating, your exam will be taken and your score will be invalidated.

Attendance
All testing absences will be marked as excused provided the testers arrive on time for their exams. Rosters for each exam will be provided to the attendance secretary by the AP Coordinator. Students are expected to attend their regular classes if not testing.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As stated before, students are expected to take the exams they have registered for at their scheduled time. If students are late or miss/skip their exams, they will NOT be permitted to take them at a different time. If a student is sick during an exam, they will be required to present a signed doctor’s note indicating the illness.
